MSU, Northwestern Release Initial Availability Report Before Intriguing Matchup

Michigan State and Northwestern released their initial injury reports ahead of an intriguing Saturday matchup that feels more like a rivalry than a typical Big Ten game. The Spartans (2-4 overall, 0-3 in conference play) will face off against the 25th-ranked Wildcats (4-1 overall, 1-1 in the Big Ten), with added intrigue as Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald returns to his alma mater and former coaching home for the first time.

Northwestern’s starting quarterback, Aidan Chiles, previously played for Michigan State in 2024 and most of 2025, adding another layer of personal significance to the game. The Spartans listed 15 players as available, including key contributors like running back Cam Edwards, quarterback Cam Fancher, and cornerbacks Tre Bell and Charles Brantley.

Northwestern’s roster is thinner, with 10 players out, including linebacker Amare Jordan (doubtful) and safety Robert Fitzgerald (questionable).
