Javier Romo has broken ties with Movistar after reaching a mutual decision to cut short his contract by two years. The twenty-seven year old Spaniard is moving to Netcompany Ineos on a two-year deal as part of a significant roster overhaul for both squads.
During his recent tenure, Romo secured a stage victory at the Tour Down Under, finished seventh overall at Itzulia Basque Country, and completed the Tour de France in fifty-fourth place. Geraint Thomas praised the incoming all-rounder for bringing proven WorldTour experience and versatility to the British outfit.
