Mohsin Naqvi is projected to step down from his role leading the Asian Cricket Council in April 2027, as an extension of his tenure faces heavy resistance from board members. Several Full Members are expected to block any motion to prolong his stay, making the mandatory unanimous backing practically unachievable.
Naqvi assumed the leadership position in April 2025 while also maintaining his responsibilities as chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board and serving as Pakistan's Interior Minister.
The succession plan points toward Bangladesh taking over the rotation, with Tamim Iqbal reportedly eager to assume control once the current term expires. Board dynamics have grown increasingly strained following high-profile disputes where the Indian men's and women's squads declined to receive their Asia Cup silverware directly from Naqvi.
