MLB wild card schedule: Four Games 1 on Tuesday

The 2026 Major League Baseball postseason kicked off with a busy Tuesday featuring four opening matchups in the best-of-three wild card round. Due to injuries and late-season struggles, several clubs had to rely heavily on relief pitchers rather than traditional starters, including a shared bullpen strategy between the Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox.

Other opening day matchups featured notable pitching pairings, such as Jesús Luzardo opening against Chris Sale, Payton Tolle facing Cam Schlittler, and Matthew Boyd opposing Michael King.
