MLB Divisional Round Gamethread: Guardians at White Sox

The American League Division Series continues tonight as the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox clash in a high-stakes Game 3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Guardians, who hold the pitching advantage with left-hander Parker Messick (12-9, 2.56 ERA) on the mound, will look to maintain momentum after the Dodgers and Brewers secured their series wins in the National League.

Meanwhile, the White Sox’s left-hander Hagen Smith (3-3, 1.29 ERA) aims to limit damage, though manager Will Venable may rely on his deep bullpen after just four innings. The White Sox must avoid a potential Game 5 at Progressive Field, where Gavin Williams and the Guardians’ bullpen could pose a formidable challenge.

First pitch is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on TBS.

The Tampa Bay Rays also advanced to the ALCS by sweeping the New York Yankees, extending their postseason dominance and leaving the Bronx franchise without a World Series appearance since 2008. With the Guardians and White Sox series tied at one win apiece, tonight’s matchup could decide which team moves on to face the Rays in the league championship round.
