Mirra Andreeva has just surpassed a Coco Gauff record after reaching the China Open Round of 16

Mirra Andreeva secured her spot in the round of sixteen at the China Open by defeating Polina Kudermetova in straight sets following an earlier three-set win against Yue Yuan. This milestone marks her seventeenth career appearance in the round of sixteen at a WTA one-thousand level tournament, allowing her to eclipse the previous record of sixteen held by fellow competitor Coco Gauff.

Both athletes are currently competing in the Beijing event, where the draw has opened up significantly following early eliminations from top-seeded players.
