Mikel Merino to leave Arsenal under condition explained by father: report

Mikel Merino's father, Angel Miguel, has clarified that his son requires a high level of competitive motivation and Champions League participation to consider a departure from Arsenal. While the midfielder has become a valued squad member under Mikel Arteta, his limited Premier League starts have raised concerns regarding his standing with the Spanish national team under Luis de la Fuente.

Atletico Madrid has reportedly expressed interest in a loan deal with a purchase option for the 30-year-old, who remains under contract at the Emirates until 2028. Despite the speculation, Arsenal currently views the player as a key leadership figure and has not initiated any contract extension talks.
