During Sunday's game, the New England Patriots lost veteran right guard Greg Van Roten in the second quarter due to a thigh injury. Van Roten had been filling in for Mike Onwenu, who is currently on injured reserve.
Instead of turning to top interior backup Ben Brown, head coach Mike Vrabel opted to insert Walter Rouse into the lineup.
Rouse struggled during his relief appearance, yielding a team-high four pressures alongside a sack. Vrabel acknowledged the mistakes while noting that Brown is finally healthy again after dealing with a preseason knee injury.
As the team awaits further medical evaluations on Van Roten, Vrabel suggested that Brown is likely to see playing time during the upcoming week.
