Michigan football plummets in polls after gut-wrenching Iowa loss

Michigan dropped six spots to No. 24 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll following a narrow 20-19 defeat against Iowa.

Quarterback Bryce Underwood delivered a strong performance with 276 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the team's offensive rhythm was hindered by penalties and a critical interception. Head coach Kyle Whittingham noted that his offense played its best game yet, despite the disappointing result.

The Wolverines struggled with execution as they accumulated eight penalties and allowed a decisive late scoring drive. Special teams also faltered earlier in the contest by conceding a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown. Looking ahead, Michigan aims to regroup during their upcoming road matchup against Minnesota.
