During the second quarter of a college football matchup, Miami (Ohio) fell behind by two touchdowns before creating a crucial turnover deep inside opponent territory. Defensive back Amariyun Knighten scooped up a live loose ball following a hit on the quarterback, but erroneously assumed the whistle had already blown for an incomplete pass.
In a bizarre sequence, Knighten handed the possession directly back to opposing wide receiver Zy'marion Lang, who advanced the field after initial hesitation. Fortunately for the defensive player, the miscue did not result in points as the opposing drive eventually stalled out.
Following the punt, the RedHawks engineered a successful 90-yard touchdown drive spanning eight plays to erase the deficit. By the conclusion of the third quarter, both squads found themselves deadlocked with 21 points apiece. The play itself is destined to remain a memorable moment from the college football season.
