Sunday brought a mixed wave of emotions for the Minnesota Lynx. Following a blowout loss to New York in the opening matchup of their playoff series, the franchise celebrated a pair of major honors.
Guard Olivia Miles secured the 2026 WNBA Rookie of the Year award unanimously, receiving the surprise presentation of her trophy and flowers from her parents, Yakubu Miles. Miles expressed gratitude toward head coach Cheryl Reeve for drafting her and thanked her teammates and veteran mentors for their steady support.
Meanwhile, Reeve earned her fifth WNBA Coach of the Year award, setting a league record. Even so, the team's immediate focus remains on turning things around for Game 2 at Barclays Center after Miles struggled offensively with eleven points in the series opener.
