Lions mailbag: What’s with Jack Campbell’s slow start?

Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell has opened the season with an unexpected and difficult stretch, drawing a low 44.2 grade from PFF over the first three weeks while surrendering 12 catches on 14 targets for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Analysts on the Midweek Mailbag are examining what caused the sudden dip for the standout defender, pointing to a larger role in coverage following Alex Anzalone's departure and a defensive scheme that has moved away from heavy man-to-man assignments.

Head coach Dan Campbell noted that the squad needs to rebuild its trust level from scratch and get back to fundamental execution after recent struggles.
