During the third match of the series against West Indies, Indian wicketkeeper KL Rahul delivered an exceptional performance by remaining not out with 129 runs from 80 deliveries. His explosive knock marked his ninth career century in the format and the second-fastest hundred he has ever recorded, following his 62-ball effort against the Netherlands during the previous year's World Cup.
Alongside teammate Rohit Sharma, who contributed a strong 92 at the opening position, Rahul helped propel the total to 351 for five across the allotted 50 overs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
This high-scoring fixture pushed the bilateral series total to nine individual centuries, establishing a new global benchmark for the most hundreds scored within a three-match ODI series. The contest surpassed the prior record of seven set by South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2010.
Rahul anchored the latter half of the innings expertly, accelerating the run rate significantly during the closing overs to finish off the fixture in dominant fashion.
