Newly crowned champion Andrea Kimi Antonelli received a five-second time penalty following the Sao Paulo Grand Prix due to an unsafe pit lane release. Stewards determined that the Mercedes driver lost control on the slick track surface, forcing an evasive maneuver to avoid hitting Franco Colapinto.
The penalty did not alter Antonelli's fifth-place finish, as he maintained a significant gap over Oscar Piastri. Despite the error, the result helped Mercedes secure the constructors' championship title.
Additionally, Ollie Bearman was issued an identical five-second penalty for a separate unsafe release, though it did not impact his 17th-place standing.
