Quarterback Kevin Jennings etched his name into the record books by throwing for 464 yards, surpassing previous program marks as the 22nd-ranked Mustangs erased a ten-point deficit to defeat Missouri State 34-24. Jennings completed 33 of 39 attempts, establishing a school record with 21 consecutive completions while tossing three touchdowns and one interception, alongside a rushing score.
Head coach Rhett Lashlee's squad improved to 3-1 on the year despite turning the ball over twice in the opening period against the visiting Bears and their first-year leader Casey Woods.
Theo Melin Ohrstrom hauled in two scoring receptions, while Yamir Knight contributed 11 catches for 164 yards, capped by a late 28-yard touchdown. Jalen Cooper added 125 yards on eight receptions, and Kendrick Raphael chipped in 98 rushing yards including an early touchdown run.
Jennings eclipsed Ben Hicks in career passing yardage and completions, while also breaking Tanner Mordecai's total touchdowns record. Missouri State briefly went ahead following a 60-yard interception return by Joel Boamah and a field goal by Yousef Obeid, but the victors controlled the remainder of the contest by outgaining their opponents 592 to 239 in total yards.
