Kent nearing home victory against Lancashire

Kent established a commanding position at the St Lawrence Ground, closing day two on 84-2 in pursuit of a 140-run victory target against Lancashire. After resuming with an overnight deficit, the hosts posted 214 in their first turn at the crease behind Zak Crawley's 84 and Matt Milnes's unbeaten 40, despite Mitch Stanley claiming all three morning scalps to end with figures of 4-61.

Lancashire then succumbed for 192 in their second innings, as Michael Jones compiled 54 and Marcus Harris struck 48, while Milnes, Khaled Ahmed, and Keith Dudgeon shared the bowling honors by taking three dismissals each.

Faced with a modest fourth-innings chase, Kent briefly faltered to 22-2 following the rapid departures of Ben Compton and Crawley. However, an unbroken partnership between Tawanda Muyeye, who hit six boundaries on his way to 37, and Sam Northeast on 23 steadied the innings and carried the hosts to within 56 runs of securing their Division Two promotion pursuit.
