Kartal reaches Wuhan final as dream week continues

Sonay Kartal has advanced to the final of the Wuhan Open after defeating Jelena Ostapenko in a pair of tie-break sets. The 24-year-old Briton, currently ranked 170th, overcame 4-1 deficits in both frames and saved six total set points to secure the win.

This achievement marks her third tournament appearance since returning from a six-month injury layoff and makes her the lowest-ranked player to reach a WTA 1,000 final since the category began in 1990. Kartal will face either Iga Swiatek or Maja Chwalinska in the championship match on Sunday.
