Kansas City Chiefs roster

Following a Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs executed multiple changes to their lineup. The defense sustained a significant blow as starting linebacker Cooper McDonald landed on injured reserve due to a knee ailment sustained during the contest, mandating an absence of at least four outings.

In response to the void at the position, the franchise conducted workouts with four free-agent linebackers on Thursday.

The secondary also experienced immediate turnover in the aftermath of the opener. Kansas City parted ways with veteran defensive back Tanner McCalister from their practice squad and simultaneously added prospect Melvin Smith Jr. to the unit.
