Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will be removed from the NFL’s commissioner’s exempt list on Monday, clearing the way for his return to action in the team’s Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions on October 25. Jacobs was initially placed on the list in late August following his arrest in Wisconsin in May, where he faced charges tied to an incident involving a woman at his home.
He later pleaded no contest to battery and criminal destruction of property, accepting a $1,000 fine for the former charge and a deferred judgment agreement for the latter. Despite resolving the legal case, the NFL’s ongoing investigation under its personal conduct policy remains active, leaving open the possibility of further discipline if the league deems it necessary.
Jacobs, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, joined the Packers in 2024 after five seasons with the Raiders, signing a four-year, $48 million contract. The investigation’s progress has been hindered by the league’s inability to review certain surveillance footage from the incident, including material from inside Jacobs’ home, which he has legally sought to suppress.
His legal team has emphasized his commitment to personal growth and responsibility, though Jacobs has declined to comment further amid ongoing legal proceedings.
