The setback returned his status to being sidelined by a back ailment just one day after Pittsburgh had shifted his official listing to non-injury conditioning.

The back-and-forth designations follow a 20-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, a contest Porter missed while engaged in an ongoing contract standoff that includes a rejected $25 million per year proposal. Linebacker Patrick Queen has expressed backing for his teammate, while team leadership under Mike McCarthy has attempted to navigate the standoff amid looming fine possibilities ahead of Week 2.
