Joey Porter Jr. made his Dallas Cowboys debut in a limited but impactful role during Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans, playing just 24 snaps while logging 19 assignments in pass coverage.
The cornerback, acquired midweek, was targeted only once by Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, reinforcing the Cowboys’ confidence in his ability to lock down opposing receivers.
Porter, who missed his first three games with the Steelers, called the opportunity to step onto the field a “blessing” and emphasized his determination to justify the team’s faith in him. Though still adjusting to Dallas’ defensive system, he acknowledged the challenge of integrating quickly before Thursday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With minimal time to refine his fit, Porter’s debut offered a glimpse of his potential as the Cowboys seek to bolster their secondary.
