Jalen Brunson wins Philly sports writers’ top honor after 76ers torture

The Philadelphia Sports Writers Association has selected Jalen Brunson as their Professional Athlete of the Year. This recognition for the Villanova product and South Jersey native arrives just before his New York Knicks face the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

While Brunson maintains personal ties to the city and its professional teams, his current role as a leader for a primary rival has caused significant friction with the local fanbase. The Knicks have recently emerged as a major obstacle for Philadelphia, notably eliminating them during the previous postseason.
