Los Angeles Lakers guard Jake LaRavia is showing early signs of a resurgent season, with a sharper shooting touch and renewed confidence after a disappointing postseason. Through three preseason games, LaRavia has connected on 6 of 11 three-point attempts (54.6%), a promising start despite the small sample size.
His attempt rate has climbed significantly, averaging 5.9 triples per 36 minutes—up from 3.8 in last year’s preseason and 4.2 during the regular season. Last postseason, his shot fell apart entirely, with just 2.2 three-point attempts per 36 minutes as his role diminished alongside his 28.6% shooting from deep in the playoffs.
Coach JJ Redick has noted LaRavia’s improved mindset, emphasizing that his recent success stems from a focus on process over results. "He’s shooting with a lot of confidence right now," Redick said, crediting a strong offseason training regimen and a mental shift toward controllable habits rather than outcome fixation.
Teammate Austin Reaves echoed the praise, highlighting LaRavia’s commitment to regaining his form, including a personal vow to become one of the Lakers’ most reliable shooters this year. Before his late-season slump, LaRavia was a key offensive contributor, known for his defense, spacing, and quick decision-making—qualities that stalled when his shooting percentage dropped from 35.3% to 27.9% over the final two-thirds of last season.
