Jack Kavanagh ready to race for glory at Home Nations 5km in Cardiff

Jack Kavanagh heads to the SportsShoes Podium Home Nations 5km in Cardiff this weekend as the top-ranked runner on the start list. The twenty-six-year-old enters the competition holding a personal best of 13:34, following a progression that includes winning silver behind Josh Kerr in the 5000m at the 2025 UK Championships and clocking 13:36.39 in 2026.

Having transitioned from recreational running during the Covid-19 pandemic to full-time training after leaving teaching, Kavanagh now works alongside coach Neil Danby and his support team as he prepares for the flat course in the Welsh capital.
