After a 2026 season limited to 15 matches due to persistent left arm bone bruising, Jack Draper is preparing for a 2027 return. The former world number four, who missed all Grand Slam events last year and dropped outside the top 150, expressed concerns to Bagel Magazine regarding the physical toll of the current ATP schedule.
He argued that the combination of slower court surfaces, heavier balls, and increased athletic demands, paired with a relentless tournament calendar, creates significant injury risks for the younger generation of players. Draper noted that while he aims for career longevity, the pressure to maintain a high ranking forces athletes to compete constantly.
He also addressed the broader trend of injuries among peers like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune, Arthur Fils, and Lorenzo Musetti, stating that these widespread physical struggles provide no personal comfort.
