During the final match of the bilateral series against New Zealand, explosive Indian batter Ishan Kishan established a new milestone by eclipsing the prior calendar-year T20 international scoring benchmark previously held by teammate Suryakumar Yadav. Playing at Seddon Park, the left-hander unleashed a brisk knock of 61 runs from 32 deliveries, which featured five boundaries and as many maximums, elevating his annual accumulation to 1,220 total runs across the year 2026.
This performance also lifted his career aggregate past the 2,000-run threshold in the format, making him the seventh player from his country to achieve that career milestone.
India compiled a total of 191 runs in this fifth fixture, maintaining their dominance after securing an unassailable advantage earlier in the series. Kishan anchored the innings alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer, whose aggressive 50-run contribution came off just 23 balls, while lower-order cameos from Naman Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy boosted the total.
The bowling attack of the touring side faced resistance as Adam Milne claimed four scalps, complemented by two dismissals each from Nathan Smith and Blair Tickner.
