Ishan Kishan achieved a significant career milestone during the final T20I against New Zealand, becoming the third-fastest Indian player to reach 2,000 runs in the format based on balls faced. His 61-run performance off 32 deliveries also allowed him to surpass the previous record for the most T20I runs scored by an Indian in a single calendar year, bringing his 2026 total to 1,220 runs.
After an early dismissal of his teammate, Kishan partnered with Shreyas Iyer to stabilize the Indian innings with a 107-run stand. This effort helped the team recover from a difficult start after being sent in to bat first.
