The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to bring its 2027 players' auction back to India after a three-year hiatus, with Goa confirmed as the host venue on December 16. The event marks a return to domestic soil following auctions held in Dubai (2024), Jeddah (2025), and Abu Dhabi (2026), as the BCCI prioritized finding a suitable location amid challenges posed by India’s peak wedding season.
IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had previously emphasized the board’s preference for hosting the auction in India, though securing a venue had proven difficult due to logistical constraints. This year’s auction is expected to be smaller in scale compared to the mega auctions of recent years, which determined player allocations for multiple seasons at once.
