Indiana football’s 19-15 loss to Ohio State on Saturday shattered a 22-game home winning streak under head coach Curt Cignetti, ending the Hoosiers’ dominance at Memorial Stadium. The No.
4 Hoosiers (6-1) fell to the No. 5 Buckeyes (6-1), marking their first home defeat since Cignetti took over, as a stifled rushing attack and turnovers proved costly.
Quarterback Julian Sayin struggled under pressure, throwing two interceptions and multiple incompletions, while the Hoosiers’ defense—despite early success containing Heisman hopeful Jeremiah Smith—allowed a late-game touchdown to swing the momentum. Smith, who went silent for three quarters, broke out with a 38-yard score in the fourth quarter to seal Ohio State’s victory, while Indiana’s offense leaned heavily on receivers Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh, who combined for over half of the team’s total yards and a game-tying touchdown pass from Marsh in the final minutes.
Special teams also faltered, with kicker Nico Radicic missing two field goals, including a 32-yarder that could have given Indiana an early lead and a 55-yard attempt late in the third quarter. The loss drops Indiana to 3-1 in conference play and leaves the program with critical questions about offensive balance and consistency moving forward.
