Ohio State’s 19-15 victory over Indiana in Bloomington marked a dramatic end to a hard-fought Big Ten clash, hinging on a razor-thin fourth-down call. With 1:02 left, Indiana’s Nick Marsh’s left foot crossed out of bounds on a 4th-and-4 attempt at the Ohio State 27-yard line, denying a game-tying touchdown.
The Buckeyes, led by a stout defensive stand, capitalized by running out the clock after a late fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Julian Sayin to Jeremiah Smith put them up 19-7. The win snapped Indiana’s 22-game home winning streak, with the Hoosiers’ offense stalling after quarterback Josh Hoover’s late-game struggles, including a missed opportunity on a would-be second touchdown pass to Marsh.
Ohio State’s defense dominated late, including two interceptions by Amare Ferrell, while the Buckeyes’ offense managed just 19 points despite Sayin’s early exit with an arm injury. Indiana’s Josh Hoover, also nursing an arm injury, completed 20 of 40 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown, but his team’s momentum stalled after the missed fourth-down conversion.
The Buckeyes’ 2-yard touchdown reception by Bo Jackson with 8 seconds left in the first half marked their first halftime lead in a home game under coach Curt Cignetti.
