The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon has adjusted its route for this year’s event to avoid key protest zones in the city, where demonstrations against the Election Commission of India have led to heavy police barricades. Organizers announced that runners will no longer pass through Rail Bhawan, Sansad Marg, and Patel Chowk, which were part of the traditional path.
Instead, the revised route between the 10 km and 13 km marks will take participants through Seva Teerth Circle and Maulana Azad Road before looping back to Kartavya Path. The elite races, including the half-marathon and Open 10K, will start at 5:18 AM and 5:20 AM respectively, with the half-marathon beginning at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Notable athletes such as two-time men’s winner Birhanu Legese and 2022 women’s champion Irene Chepet Cheptai are set to compete, alongside 22 Indian men and 20 Indian women in the elite fields.
