India’s dominance in cricket at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan has led to significant financial rewards for key players from their home states. The men’s team secured back-to-back gold medals by defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final, while the women’s side crushed Sri Lanka by 147 runs in a repeat of their 2023 triumph.
Tamil Nadu awarded ₹75 lakh to Washington Sundar for his pivotal role in the men’s victory, including two wickets in the final. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh recognized Deepti Sharma and Vipraj Nigam with ₹3 crore each for their contributions to the women’s and men’s gold medal campaigns, respectively.
Karnataka also increased its prize for gold medalists to ₹1 crore, benefiting Shreyanka Patil from the women’s team. These rewards reflect growing state-level support for cricket, particularly as India’s performances continue to set new benchmarks in international competitions.
