India aim another high in Asian Games athletics, Toor guns for record golden hat-trick

The Indian athletics squad has commenced its latest Asian Games campaign in Japan, deploying a seventy-five member contingent with aspirations of securing between twenty-five and thirty medals. Shot putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor aims to secure an unprecedented third consecutive gold medal in his discipline, while competitors such as long jumper Murali Sreeshankar and distance runner Gulveer Singh seek to improve upon their prior podium finishes.

Additional competitors including Asha Ilango, Seema, Animesh Kujur, and Gurindervir Singh are slated for opening events, though the team competes without star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra due to an injury.
