IND W vs ZIM W 1st ODI: Zimbabwe win toss, elect to bat first against Mandhana's India

Zimbabwe won the coin flip and decided to take the crease first at the opening fixture of the series. Stand-in leader Nomvelo Sibanda explained the choice aimed to post a total without scoreboard pressure, while regular captain Josephine Nkomo sits out due to a minor injury.

For the hosts, Smriti Mandhana noted her team would have batted initially as well on the favorable pitch and confirmed that Jintimani Kalita is making her international debut. India enters the multi-format assignment attempting to rebuild momentum following a recent whitewash against Australia in their previous 50-over outings.
