India has named its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, with Ravindra Jadeja securing a spot in the probable eleven at position six. The roster is scheduled to gather in Thiruvananthapuram by September 24 for the fixtures beginning in late 2026.
This selection marks a return for the all-rounder, who last played in the fifty-over format during a January fixture against New Zealand. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra analyzed the development on his online channel, pointing out that this tour serves as a vital test for Jadeja.
With Axar Patel currently unavailable due to Asian Games participation in Japan, Jadeja has a pathway back into the side. However, Chopra emphasized that the experienced player must deliver full bowling quotas and claim wickets to remain competitive for a spot in the upcoming World Cup squad in South Africa, noting that Axar currently holds an advantage in that selection race.
In addition to Jadeja, Chopra discussed opportunities for other squad members. Nitish Kumar Reddy enters the group after missing out on the Asian Games assignment, while fast bowling options like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar are also positioned to feature in the Caribbean series.
