Illinois football news: Illini fire defensive coordinator after getting torched by Jeremiah Smith

Following a weekend defeat against Ohio State, Illinois leadership decided to dismiss defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck. Head coach Bret Bielema made the announcement after his squad surrendered over five hundred yards during the recent conference matchup.

During the contest, opposing wide receiver Jeremiah Smith caught four scoring passes while quarterback Julian Sayin orchestrated the offensive attack. The program currently sits at two wins and two losses overall following the early-season struggles.
