How USC Trojans' Freshman Class Has Been Better Than Advertised

USC has successfully reversed a decade-long trend of losing top-tier California prospects to rival programs by overhauling its recruiting infrastructure in January 2025. Under the leadership of general manager Chad Bowden, the Trojans assembled a high-powered staff and leveraged improved NIL resources to secure the No.

1 ranked class, marking the first time a non-SEC school has achieved that distinction since 2008.

The immediate impact of this strategy is evident seven games into the 2026 season, with the freshman cohort praised for its maturity and lack of entitlement. The offensive line has seen significant contributions from Trinity League transfers Trent Mosley and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt, who have established themselves as key pass-catchers alongside tight end Luke Wafle, a defensive end who recently faced Louisiana at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
