How author Stephen King is helping keep Highland League side going

Celebrated novelist Stephen King has provided an undisclosed financial contribution to assist Buckie Thistle as the club navigates a period of severe financial strain. The Highland League organization recently faced a steep challenge following the departure of longtime president Garry Farquhar due to health concerns, leaving his son Daniel Farquhar to manage monthly operational expenses reaching approximately 20,000 pounds while incoming revenue lags behind.

Despite securing roughly 55,000 pounds in recent donations over a five to six week span, the team continues working hard to trim overhead costs after previously absorbing a five to zero defeat against Celtic during their high-profile Scottish Cup fixture earlier in 2024.
