During the men's cricket bronze-medal playoff at the Asian Games 2026, Sri Lankan batter Nuwanidu Fernando was given out controversially despite a visible separation between his bat and the delivery. Despite this setback, Sri Lanka posted a total of 165/9 in their twenty overs, powered by Tharindu Ratnayake's aggressive 65 runs from 32 balls alongside a 33-run contribution from Sahan Arachchige, while Bangladesh bowlers Mahedi Hasan and Saif Hassan each collected two wickets.
In response, Bangladesh struggled during their run chase and were dismissed for 102 runs in 17.3 overs, with Nasum Ahmed providing the highest score of 26. Sri Lankan bowlers Wanuja Sahan, Ratnayake, Nuwan Thushara, and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth shared the bowling load evenly by taking two wickets apiece to secure a 63-run victory and the bronze medal for their country.
