Heroes, zeros from Yankees’ Game 2 trouncing of Red Sox: Max Fried keeps Boston bats quiet

Max Fried delivered another stellar postseason start for the New York Yankees on Wednesday, spinning six strong innings of one-run ball to help eliminate the Boston Red Sox in a 9-2 blowout. Following Cam Schlittler's strong outing the night before, Fried kept the visitors quiet as New York secured the wild-card series sweep at Yankee Stadium.

Boston skipper Chad Tracy watched his offense struggle once again, extending a postseason drought that spanned nearly three full games dating back to the previous year. Luis Garcia Jr.

put the hosts ahead with a solo blast in the fourth frame, before Cody Bellinger punctuated the victory with a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
