Georgia’s 20–17 victory over Alabama on Saturday left lingering questions after a controversial non-call in the final minutes. The Bulldogs’ KJ Bolden drew criticism for his role in a potential pass interference call on Alabama’s last drive, where quarterback Keelon Russell threw toward Rico Scott in the end zone.
Bolden, along with defensive back Braylon Conley, made contact with Scott before the ball arrived, breaking up the play. Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer visibly erupted on the sideline, arguing for a call, while Russell was sacked on the next play, ending the scoring threat.
Bolden later admitted the call should have gone the other way, telling ABC-Atlanta, *“If they did that to us, I’d want them to call pass interference.”* The Bulldogs’ win was sealed by a penalty on Alabama’s Dijon Lee Jr. for unsportsmanlike conduct, while fan frustration over officiating led to objects being thrown onto the field postgame.
Earlier, Bolden also drew attention for a hard hit on Alabama’s Ryan Coleman-Williams, who is now questionable for Tennessee this weekend after the play went unpenalized.
