Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart Gets Honest About Recruiting

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart recently discussed how drastically the college football player acquisition landscape has evolved due to name, image, and likeness rules alongside the transfer portal. He noted that verbal commitments from high school athletes no longer guarantee anything until paperwork is officially signed and finalized, pointing to a past instance involving quarterback Jared Curtis who pledged to the program twice before ultimately choosing Vanderbilt instead.

Despite these modern hurdles, Smart continues to prioritize traditional high school scouting and player development to maintain his roster.
