Garrett Crochet makes Red Sox roster vs. Yankees despite long injury layoff

Following a lengthy absence due to a left lat strain that sidelined him since April 25, starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has been added to the active roster for the opening game of the American League wild-card series against the New York Yankees. The left-hander completed two live batting practice sessions during the week to prove his fitness ahead of the playoff matchup.

Crochet last appeared on the mound in late April against the Baltimore Orioles, completing six scoreless innings. After missing nearly five months of action, the twenty-seven-year-old indicated he is ready to contribute to the Boston pitching staff as the team travels to the Bronx for the Tuesday evening contest.
