The Boston Bruins’ recent seven-year, $50.4 million contract extension with Fraser Minten is already shaping up as a shrewd move, as the 22-year-old center has delivered a breakout start to the 2026-27 season. Acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in March 2025 as part of the Brandon Carlo trade, Minten has been a consistent offensive force, scoring two goals in Tuesday’s 6-3 road win over the San Jose Sharks.
That victory propelled Boston to a 5-2-0 record and first place in the Atlantic Division, with Minten contributing both goals—one early in the first period and another in the third after a strong offensive sequence. Over his first seven games, he has already tallied seven points (four goals, three assists), more than doubling his pace from last season, when it took him 25 games to reach the same total.
His offensive production has been complemented by a sharper, more aggressive approach, with 19 shots on net compared to just nine in the same point of last year’s campaign. The Bruins have outscored opponents 8-3 at even strength during Minten’s ice time, underscoring his growing two-way impact.
With a ceiling that could eventually position him as a top-line center, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm praised Minten’s development, calling his play and hockey IQ “very impressive at his age.”
