Nick Blankenburg has officially signed a one-year, $1.4 million agreement with the Toronto Maple Leafs after starting his stint with the organization on a professional tryout. The twenty-eight-year-old blueliner previously spent part of the 2025-26 campaign with the Colorado Avalanche following a trade deadline acquisition, appearing in a dozen regular-season matches and five playoff contests, highlighted by a memorable postseason score against the Minnesota Wild.
During his time in Denver, Blankenburg contributed three points before Colorado ultimately shifted their defensive focus toward Noah Juulsen in free agency. Across the entire 2025-26 season split between Nashville and Colorado, the right-handed defenseman achieved personal highs offensively by accumulating eight goals and sixteen assists, bringing his career totals to 178 appearances with 18 goals and 40 assists.
