Alexander Volkanovski successfully defended his featherweight title at UFC 333 by securing a second-round technical knockout against Movsar Evloev. Despite the victory, it was later revealed that the champion had been battling a flu infection throughout the week leading up to the bout.

Craig Jones, a member of his training team, confirmed the illness following the event. Volkanovski admitted that he intentionally avoided taking any medication during his recovery, citing a desire to maintain a level playing field for his opponent.

He expressed that facing such obstacles during his preparation actually served as a source of motivation.
