The Florida Gators made a dramatic return to the AP Top 25 after ending a two-game losing streak with a hard-fought victory over Texas in Austin. The win marked Florida’s first-ever triumph on the Longhorns’ home field and its first top-10 road win since 2012, showcasing a balanced performance from both offense and defense.
Tramell Jones Jr. delivered a strong debut as the starting quarterback, while the defense overcame a late Texas rally to secure the upset.
With 355 points in the poll, Florida re-entered the rankings at No. 20, sandwiched between Texas (No.
19) and Boise State (No. 21), and also climbed to No.
24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The SEC now occupies eight spots in the top 25, led by Georgia (No.
5), with Florida joining the likes of Ole Miss (No. 7), Tennessee (No.
11), and Alabama (No. 13).
The Gators’ next challenge comes after a bye week, when they face Georgia in their annual rivalry game on October 31 in Atlanta, a matchup set to air on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET.
