Flick explains surprise Barcelona selections ahead of Alaves clash: ‘We have great confidence’

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has shuffled his starting lineup for the match against Alaves due to a series of defensive injuries. Teenager Brian Farinas is making his senior debut at right-back, while Frenkie de Jong has been moved into the center of the defense alongside Pau Cubarsi.

Flick expressed full trust in his players to adapt to these unfamiliar roles as the team looks to bounce back from recent losses against PSG and Real Madrid. The manager emphasized that securing a victory is vital to keeping pace with league leaders Atletico Madrid and other top contenders like Real Betis.

He expects Alaves to employ a deep defensive block and focus on counterattacking, but he remains committed to Barcelona's possession-based style while stressing the need for defensive balance.
