Fernando Alonso faced criticism from former driver Ivan Capelli following his disparaging remarks about the skill level of competitors at the rear of the pack. Alonso had labeled the bottom third of the grid as subpar after a first-lap collision with Alex Albon left him in 16th place at the United States Grand Prix.
Capelli argued that these comments were blown out of proportion, noting that drivers currently struggling often possess proven track records in superior machinery. He suggested that errors are a natural consequence of pushing underperforming cars beyond their limits rather than a lack of inherent talent.
Furthermore, Capelli observed that younger drivers may simply be adjusting more effectively to modern vehicle regulations than their more experienced counterparts.
