India secured a convincing six-wicket triumph over New Zealand in their recent Twenty20 international fixture, claiming an unassailable three-nil advantage in the current five-match series. Opening batsman Abhishek Sharma delivered a remarkable display by striking an unbeaten century from merely thirty-eight deliveries, which featured eleven towering maximums and nine boundaries.
This performance propelled the visiting side past the hosts' total of 198 within just 13.2 overs.
During this explosive knock, Sharma surpassed West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle by recording his third career innings containing ten or more maximums in the international format. He partnered with young teammate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a dominant opening stand of 133 runs to overwhelm the target efficiently.
New Zealand's innings had earlier featured a strong unbeaten knock of 89 from Daryl Mitchell, though the bowling attack ultimately could not defend the challenging target.
